How to Keep Life Fun While Building Your Future | Direct Your Life

Sometimes life asks you to do things you didn’t plan for.

Like going to Target on a Sunday when you’d rather be writing, creating, or building your business.

That happened to me recently.

My wife—deep into her third trimester—needed easy slip-on shoes. She could still walk, but I tell ya, when I walk with her at that speed, it feels like we are not moving at all.

We inched our way to the entrance. We spotted one of those shopping carts with the adult seat built in.

We looked at each other.

Game on.

A minute later, I was pushing her, strolling through Target at full normal speed while she faced me like royalty. We were laughing down the aisles, hunting for her slip ons to be.

We found her the right ones, then we searched for new sunglasses for me. She had me try on the ridiculously large ones. I even made a target surfer video with my phone. We laughed more.

What could have been another dull errand became a playful little date.

The Truth

Most people don’t hate tasks—they hate the energy they bring into tasks.

When everything becomes “I have to,” life gets heavy fast.

But when you bring creativity, humor, and presence into ordinary moments, even Target can become memorable.

The Shift

Instead of asking:

Why do I have to do this?

Ask:

How can I make this fun?

How can I make this lighter?
How can I make this meaningful?
How can I trigger a giggle?

That question changes everything.

But you have to be free and not be concerned with how others look at you.

If we cared that people were watching me push around my pregnant wife while I made absurd jokes, we would never had had our romantic target joy ride. It would have been me complaining and my wife frustrated.

Your Challenge Today

The next boring thing on your list—errands, chores, waiting in line, folding laundry—don’t sleepwalk through it.

Direct it.

Bring better energy.
Get playful.
Create the moment instead of enduring it.

That’s how better days are built.
